Poverty and despair have risen considerably in Lebanon over the past 30 years. The 1975 – 1990 Lebanese Civil War has forced hundreds of thousands Lebanese to flee their villages and settle in suburban slums.
The weaker members of society, single women, orphans and the elderly are the most affected. Access to medical care, shelters and social help has diminished considerably over the years.
The presence of refugees camps with people with no hope and no future living in poverty for decades has made the situation even worse.
The Syrian civil war and the influx of 1.5 million refugees in Lebanon has also aggravated the problem despite the massive help of the International Community.
The PARTY OF LEBANON considers that every political organization has a responsibility vis a vis the weaker segments of society.
The PARTY OF LEBANON SOCIAL COMMITTEE’s mission is to act on extreme situations brought to its attention by helping on the terrain and raising funds for specific actions.
